- If you are a continuing student, did you take a fall or spring semester off without signing up for a Leave of Absence? If so, you will need to re-admit to the University through the Office of Admissions.
- If you are currently on a Leave of Absence and would like to return early, please visit the Leave of Absence page through the academic records tile on your student homepage, or if you are a graduate or international student, email registration@utah.edu.
If you need to take the prerequisite courses and have not yet, you will need to adjust your class schedule to register in the prerequisite course. If you believe you have met the prerequisite, but the registration system is not recognizing it, you may request a permission code from the instructor or department of the class that can be used to register in the class.
The most common cause of a permission code not working is that either you have entered the code incorrectly, or the department or instructor has given an invalid code, either for a different section, or a code that another student has already used. Please request a new code from the instructor or department that supplied the invalid code.
Permission codes can only be given by the instructor or department of the class you are looking to add. Some departments have set up forms accessed through the following Permission Numbers Request Sites webpage. If the department is not listed, instructor and department contact information can be found within the class information on the Class Schedule.
Information on how to submit a Leave of Absence request can be found on the Leave of Absense webpage.
Leave of Absence requests are reviewed and processed in the order they are received, at the beginning of semester, due to the volume of requests submitted, it may take a few weeks for us to review your Leave of Absence request.
Please fill out the Change of Personal Information form and email the completed form to registration@utah.edu with a picture of one of the pieces to documentation listed on the form. You may also bring the form and documentation in person to window 13 of the student services building.
Due to the restrictions placed by the federal law FERPA, parents will have limited access to their student’s records. It is always best practice for the student to contact us directly. In order for a parent to have any access, the student will first need to fill out the FERPA Consent to Release form through their student homepage, in the profile tile. In this form, they can list the individual they would like to give access to and set up a FERPA PIN that can be used to verify identity over the phone.
