How to Repeat a Class for a Third Time

If you are an undergraduate student and need approval to take an undergraduate class for the third+ attempt.

  • Courses: For this process, courses do not include those repeatable for credit until the repeat limit has been exhausted. The General Catalog lists the “Repeat for Credit” information under each course.
  • Attempts: For this process, attempts include grades, withdrawals, incompletes, test credit, and articulated transfer courses.

Students whose course registration will be impacted by the course attempt process will receive an error indicating that they have already taken the class and permission to take the class is required.

Please make an appointment with the major/minor or certificate advisor where this course is required to complete to earn the credential. If the course is not a requirement and you have multiple advisors – you can choose either one to work with.
