Step One:Apply for Admission
Prospective students must apply for admission to the University of Utah.
Step Two:Enrollment Deposit (Freshmen)
Once you are admitted to the University of Utah, you confirm your intent to attend by paying an enrollment deposit. When you register for classes, the deposit will be applied towards the first semester’s tuition. However, if you pay and then choose not to register for classes, the deposit will not be refunded.
Step Three: New Student Orientation
After paying the deposit, newly admitted domestic freshmen must sign up and attend a new student orientation session.
Transfer students must meet with an academic advisor and sign up/attend a new student orientation session.
To sign up for orientation, visit Office of Orientation and New Student Programs.
International Students complete orientation through International Student & Scholar Services.
Step Four: Register for Classes
At orientation, newly admitted freshmen and transfer students will have the opportunity to register for classes through Campus Information Services. After orientation, students may continue to register for classes online or in-person until the last day to add classes. There are PDF and video tutorials on how to use the online registration system.
Step Five: Pay Tuition and Fees
Once you are registered and about one week prior to the start of the term, you can sign in to Campus Information Services to view and/or pay your tuition and fees. More information concerning how tuition and fees are calculated and important deadlines for paying tuition and fees is available at Income Accounting.
Step Six: Purchase Textbooks
Sign in to Campus Information Services to find the required textbook list for your class schedule by “Viewing your Class Schedule” under Registration and clicking on the textbook link at the bottom of the page.
